Blizzard's new StarCraft tournament, known as the Sandlot, was announced recently. A total of eight teams were formed from popular community websites around the world and will compete in a month-long league. Today, we're happy to announce the first two communities that will be competing: GosuGamers.net and BroodWar.de!

GosuGamers has consistently delivered a high-quality StarCraft scene with detailed tournament coverage in English. Although its roots are in the Swedish StarCraft community, the website is frequented by StarCraft players from across Europe and the Americas. Mazor, GosuGamers' lead site administrator, will be putting together an admin team to guide the GosuGamers.net community team.

BroodWar.de is the biggest German-language StarCraft website on the Internet and serves as a central hub for the large German-speaking Brood War community. The website also hosts special content like StarCraft machinima and "highlight" movies. The admin team of Carnac, GeneralMengsk, NumbSchiller, and Quint will be behind the wheel of the BroodWar.de community team.

We wish both these community websites luck in the upcoming tournament. The remaining six StarCraft Sandlot teams will be announced in the near future.

We're pleased to present the first look at Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming StarCraft Sandlot Tournament!

Eight years after its release, StarCraft continues to rank among the most popular mediums for computer gaming competitions. Over the years, StarCraft has been supported by a large player base; community websites; and enthusiasts who continue to put much time, effort, and energy into the game. We felt there could be no better way to honor this passion than to organize a massive tournament on Battle.net and support the StarCraft community. Gamers across the globe will be able to get directly involved with the Sandlot Tournament, and this gives the world's best players a chance to battle it out for some serious cash.

The new World of Warcraft World Map from BradyGames is a perfect blend of form and function. Whether you put the detailed artwork on display or use it to make your way through Azeroth, this two-sided poster makes a great addition to your game room or World of Warcraft collection.

Side 1 shows a map of Azeroth, unfettered - with a clear view of the topography of the continents. Side 2 includes all flight paths, as well as labeled cities, dungeons, and regions. The full-color, large-format design fits standard 36" x 48" poster frames, and it ships rolled in a tube to prevent fold marks. This exclusive map is only available at BradyGames.com.

In Tech Wars, you have to build barracks, factories and gyrocopter pads that automatically spawn units and send them at your enemy! Each building has upgrades that will upgrade the units this building spawns. At the center of the map there are different technologies that you can capture, and as long as you control them you will be able to upgrade to even better units and buildings. You also have turrets that you can build and upgrade to protect your base. So whatever you do, don't lose your base, and use whatever you can to protect it! Be the first team to wipe out the other side to be victorious!

A while back, we gave you the chance to work with the Warcraft III World Editor in our last mapmaking contest. We received many incredible maps, so it seemed only fair to hold another mapmaking contest to give you another opportunity to compete with your fellow map creators. Your new mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to take any kind of professional sport (no Tetherball maps, sorry!) and turn it into a fun and exciting Warcraft III map using the Warcraft III World Editor. We'll be offering cool hardware and software prizes to the top three submissions.

For complete rules, prizes, and information, please visit the contest webpage here.

Good luck; we're already looking forward to your submissions!
